FAFSA Information Authorization: Required For All Applications

 

In accordance with the provisions of the General Assembly Scholarship Program, Representative Nekritz (57th District) announces scholarship opportunities for students in her district interested in pursuing an education at one of the Illinois state universities. Applications are available at Representative Nekritz’ office at 24 S. Des Plaines River Rd., Suite 400, Des Plaines, IL 60016, on her website at www.repnekritz.org or by calling (847)257-0450.

 

Description:

Eight one year scholarships are available for a full tuition waiver at the following locations:

Chicago State University, Chicago

• Eastern Illinois University, Charleston

• Governor’s State University, University Park

Illinois State University, Normal

• Northeastern Illinois University, Springfield

• Northern Illinois University, DeKalb

• Southern Illinois University, Carbondale and Edwardsville

University of Illinois, Chicago Circle Campus

University of Illinois, Chicago Medical Center Campus

University of Illinois, Springfield

University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign Campus

Western Illinois University, Macomb

 

The scholarship program is for tuition only; it includes no fees, or room and board. Summer tuition is included. Recipients not attending the summer session will be asked to release their summer scholarship.

 

Qualifications:

1. Residence in the 57th Illinois House District.

2. Acceptance at a state university as a full-time student. Preference will be given to full-time undergraduate applicants.

3. Evidence of activity in public and civic affairs.

4. Relative financial need.

5. Academic achievement.

 

How To Apply:

1. Confirm residency in the 57th District by visiting the General Assembly’s website. Click on Legislator Lookup and search by address.

 

2. Print out the General Assembly Scholarship Application and complete form.

3. Print out the FAFSA Information Authorization and complete form.

4. Submit the scholarship application with:

• Signed FAFSA Information Authorization

• Personal Statement

• Three letters of recommendation

• Official school transcripts (high school and college, if applicable)

• Letter of acceptance (high school seniors only)

 

5. Return all materials to:

Deadline:

Applications, with the required attachments, must be received by 4:00 p.m. on April 18, 2008. Only complete applications will be considered. Notifications of scholarship awards will be made in June.
